Dozens of refugees moved to Good Shepherd Baptist Church by Hurricane Irene effects

The effects left by the passage of Hurricane Irene near the north coast, have been felt on Wednesday across the country. About 60 people have been affected at Kilómetro 56, Villa Altagracia and Los Guananitos, and have been moved to Good Shepherd Baptist Church (Los Guananitos). Kilómetro 56, a community located northwest of Santo Domingo, was fully evacuated due to the rising levels of Guananito and Haina rivers. Heavy rains and winds have been felt on Wednesday morning.

By now, pastors of the community are accompanying the victims at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, along with representatives from the Civil Defense, Fire Department and National Police.

We will keep you informed as the day progresses.
