Dominican Baptist youth celebrates their 2011 camp

The Baptist Youth of Dominican Republic (JUBAREDO, by its initials in Spanish) held last weekend (July 29-31, 2011) its annual meeting attended by 95 people from nine congregations of the Baptist Churches of Dominican Republic (IBAREDO). This was the eighth camp that the Baptist youth celebrates since its inception in 2004.

The youth were convened under the theme God’s purpose for my life, family, church and community, according to the Joseph’s story in the book of Genesis. The workshops were held by Dr. César Carhuachín, Rev. Lilian Medina, pastor Olga I. Quiñones Pizarro, and the Rev. Miguel Bonnet. Participants assessed positively the different workshops offered.

For the occasion, Alejandro Brito presented the camp’s theme song composed by him, which struck the youth at the event for its infectious beat and great lyrics. Dania Benitez, JUBAREDO’s president, appreciated the support received by the Baptist leadership and youth for the weekend. The camp generated a beautiful spark via social networking, thus predicted the success of the next 2012 camp and the celebration of the Christmas meeting in December.
